Paralysis,a very common disease In clinic,is a disorder which is very difflcult to cure.With the progress of the medical science,the diseases that may cause paralysis,such as plliomyelitis and encephalitis B,are becoming less and less. However,on the other hand,some other diseases that may also causeparalysis,such as cerebrovascular accident,are becoming moreand more.The high morbidity rate and lowered mortality rateresult in a comparative increase of paralysls cases. The incidenceof traumatic paraplegla,injury of the peripheral nerves and bysterlc hemlplegla Is tending to rise. Paralysis often deprives the patients of thelr working and living capabilities, leaving great sorrow and sufferings to the patients and their farnilies,and heavy burdens to the society.Therefore,it is the unshakable duty for the medical workers to explore the therapeutic methods for various kinds ofparalysis and to rid the patients of their dlseases. Treating paralysis with acupuncture has had a history of over 2000 years,during the long period of which very rich experience has been accumulated and rather satlsfactorytherapeutlc effect has been achieved. onthe basis of the study onthe experience of the ancient prominent medical figures and clinical practice for many years, the authors have reviewed large quantlty of related literatures published over the past 10 years before they finished this book.
